Whenever possible, the goal is to always attain a premorbid-level of bodily function, but for patients who are not able to achieve full restoration, our doctor of physical medicine will prescribe a "team approach" to optimize the on-going quality of life. Interventions may include a combined use of medications, physical modalities, therapeutic exercise, physical training, movement and stretching activities.
Rehabilitation & Pain Management
By taking the whole body into account, our rehabilitation physician is able to accurately diagnose physical problems and enhance performance without surgical intervention. Through the medical application of therapeutic exercise, movement modifications, manual therapy techniques and experiential training for use of assistive devices, orthotic braces and prosthesis, PrimeMed can effectively assist you in overcoming physical obstacles. In cases where surgery is medically indicated, our Jacksonville rehabilitation physician will work with you and your surgeon prior to surgery to achieve the best possible outcome. Following your surgery, our doctor will help you determine a realistic plan to attain your short and long-term goals to restore function and manage chronic pain. When indicated, a multi-disciplinary approach and interventional procedures, such as occupational or speech therapy, may be prescribed along with existing physical therapies.
